Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one victories have been earned on hardcourt

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev claimed his first trophy for nearly 30 months with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

Medvedev, a ex- world number one, has endured a challenging season, winning just a single victory at the major tournaments and experiencing a meltdown at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serve in particular - resulted in him exiting of the elite rankings and finally separating with long-time coach Cervara.

Presently training with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually advanced in the last few weeks - culminating in a tightly fought competitive win over opponent Moutet.

It is his first trophy after the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard court after that period of 2023.

Success also means he has secured 21 championships at 21 various events.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a tournament with my both daughters simultaneously, so to win a championship is particularly special," commented ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in honour of my younger daughter her name, because the first title I got when my older daughter her name was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his previous six championship matches, including in the German tournament in the past months.

His defensive play style and recurring reactions on the playing surface had prompted observers to doubt if his ability to compete at the highest level was finished.

However the 29-year-old has altered his approach in recent weeks, attempting to advance forward and compete aggressively, backed up by an better serve.

Medvedev fought back from a break down in the first set against the challenging Moutet, securing four of the final five games to take the lead.

The competitors exchanged service breaks in the second set before Moutet, striving for his first ATP Tour victory, seized the initiative to push for a third set.

Moutet saved 4 early opportunities in a tight third set before the champion broke to fifteen to close out the victory.

Fittingly, he clinched the title with a rally at the front of the court, with his opponent failing to control a volley after over two and a half hours.
